There is no best shoe, only a best shoe for a distance, a weight and a foot. So this list is organised by use, and every entry states the measured figures rather than the marketing name of the foam.
What we look at
- Weight, stack height and drop published for a stated size
- Intended distance and pace range stated by the maker
- Outsole durability over a measured number of kilometres
- Available in widths, not only one last
- Same name means the same shoe, or the version number changes
Helps if you have it: Published weight, stack and drop for a named size, plus a wear test over at least 300 km.
