A VPN service from the makers of Proton Mail with open-source apps and an independently audited no-logs policy.

Best for a no-logs policy audited on its own terms, four years running

Strengths

  • Securitum has audited the no-logs policy itself in 2022, 2023, 2024 and August 2025, with the reports public
  • The transparency report lists 29 legal requests to June 2025 and says all of them were refused
  • Swiss company, Proton AG, named on the site
  • A free tier that is not paid for with advertising

Limits

  • The advertised price is an introductory term; the renewal costs more

Best for an unbroken audit record and pricing with no tricks

  • Cure53 has audited it every year since 2019
  • The March 2024 Cure53 report is public in full, with only sensitive detail redacted
  • Flat pricing with no introductory term
  • Operated by IVPN Limited, registered in Gibraltar, stated openly

Limits

  • The most recent published report covers web infrastructure; the no-logging verification is older
  • A seventh audit was announced for May 2025 and no report has appeared

  • Behaviour under a real legal request documented
  • Leak protection verified, including on reconnect
  • Price after the first term shown before you buy
